Hermes artisans of more than 10 workshops among their 51 in France came down Singapore to showcase their expertise behind the scenes of each Hermes art piece. There were stations for each department from bags, ready to wear, jewelry, watches, silk, repair, etc. Visitors got chances to interact with artisans with tons of questions to satisfy the thirst of curiosity towards the legacy brand. Most interestingly, anyone could try to make an Hermes bag like a real Hermes artisan.
Different types of leather with unique colors were displayed for us to touch and feel. Stitches in various sizes for different bag styles were demonstrated how to put the leather pieces together. According to the experts, the handle of a Kelly bag is made of 36 pieces of leather and takes 15 hours to finish. Each bag carries the little soul of a skillful artisan. Well respect for the brand and the artisans behind the scenes.
